Digital print, 8’ x 6’ on canvas, 2024

I took this photo at the end of a previous show during the deinstallation of the show and it had occurred to me that I wanted to do something interesting with the photo. I ran it through some filters and upscaled it, then the file sat on the desktop of my computer for a year or more.

In the fall of 2024 I decided, due to a number of factors that my time as a member of Axis Gallery would come to an end at the end of the year, and I would not participate in shows in the gallery as a member any more. I figured that was it, and I would never do anything with this piece.

However, the Axis membership decided to have a member group show in December. We were all assigned a wall to show our work on, and I was assigned the wall behind the ladder. So that was perfect and very serendipitous. I reworked the image considerably using Photoshop, Procreate on the iPad and Pixelmator Pro, then collaborated with Artisan Colour out of Arizona to print this piece large. I’m very happy with out it came out and the sort of poetic nature of finishing my time at Axis gallery with a piece called Deinstallation, which is installed on the wall pictured in the image.

Below are some photos of the installation of “Deinstallation”

And the final piece, on the wall by itself.

I am very thankful for my time with Axis Gallery. I have learned a lot and been inspired by many talented and fantastic artists in the Sacramento community. I wish everyone in that group the absolute best going forward and I hope to participate and collaborate on shows in the future.
